  5. Events & Activities ~ There is ALWAYS something to do in Warren County. Year round, Warren County has something to offer everyone or all ages and abilities. Thousands of tourists visit the Trails at Jakes Rocks (TAJR) every year. Consisiting of over 30 miles of world-class mountain biking and hiking trails, TAJR draws hundreds of people to an annual event in September, celebrating the biggest outdoor recreation asset we have. Whether you’re a fair weather goer that looks forward to our famous Fourth of July Parade and summer extravaganzas, a leaf peeper looking to take fall tours, or a seasoned ice fisher hoping to “catch a big one” during our Annual Winterfest, we have what YOU’RE looking for. The Warren County Fair, Johnny Appleseed Festival, Wild Wind Folk Arts Festival, Music on the Mountain, Tidioute Fishing Tournament, and many other events are attended by hundreds of people from across thew region. Indoors to outside, Warren County has a venue to suit most any event.
  6. Camping~ Visitors from across the globe take river trips with Allegheny Outfitters (AO) down our majestic waters. AO offers planned camping guided tours, where you can pitch a tent on an island in the Allegheny! RV to tent campers utilize our many campgrounds, KOA’s, or even lodge in our plentiful Airbnb options for a more “glamping” experience.
  7. Art & Culture ~ Warren County is brimming with opportunities for those fascinated with history, heritage, and theatre. There are 11 architecturally and culturally rich historic buildings in Warren County. The Struther’s Library Theatre, which was erected in 1883, hosts musical theatre during the summer and is one of the nation’s oldest and original remaining theatres! During the summer months, you can listen to free concerts along the river at Music in the Park in Downtown Warren. The Allegheny Center for the Arts provides a great place to learn and teach art. The ACA was formed by a community-minded group who felt artists, writers, performers, and cultural lovers needed the means to connect and a venue to share their work. A stop that you will not want to miss, is the Crary Art Gallery. The Crary Art Gallery was established in 1977 as a non-profit art museum by painter Genevieve Walker Crary in honor of her husband, the industrialist, philanthropist, and accomplished photographer, Clare Crary. Today, the Crary Art Gallery is dedicated to enriching the region’s cultural offerings through noteworthy, temporary, exhibitions and the display of historical works. At The Warren Music Conservatory you will find a quality music education from our area’s finest professional teachers and musicians. They offer a kid-friendly environment and have private or group lessons for all ages and skill levels. Warren County is home to MANY local artists. Live music can be heard on any given weekend throughout the county. Voices of the Conservatory Choir, The Junior Warren County Youth Orchestra, The Warren County Youth Orchestra, Therapeutic Drum Circle, Student Rock Band with Mark Robinault, and The Warren County Youth Network are just a few of the outlets for people of all ages to get fully immersed in the music industry in Warren County.   8. Recreation ~ Positioned in the picturesque Pennsylvania Wilds, Warren County and its rich, diverse, natural beauty is the ideal location to enjoy the outdoors. The County offers 600 miles of hiking trails suitable for the novice or avid hiker, horseback rider, or mountain biker. Campsites, great fishing (showcased in the annual State Fishing Tournament) and six state game lands—including two wildlife management units for hunting—make this community an outdoor lover’s paradise! Winter brings plentiful snowfalls: creating snowmobiling, snow shoeing, and cross-country skiing opportunities within the half million-acre national forest. The scenic 24-mile-long, 12,000-acre Allegheny Reservoir, which spans the border between Pennsylvania and New York State, allows for waterskiing, swimming, and boating, making the summer a splash!
  9. Chapman State Park ~ Chapman offers recreationalists many opportunities. Visitors will find numerous campsites, hiking trails, streams, and a lake for paddling, fishing, and swimming. The 862-acre Chapman State Park includes the 68-acre Chapman Lake on the West Branch of Tionesta Creek. Adjacent to state game lands and the Allegheny National Forest, Chapman is an oasis of recreational facilities in a vast area of wilderness.
  10. Kinzua Dam ~ The Kinzua Dam Recreation Area, located below the Reservoir, is a favorite launch spot for canoe and kayak excursions on the Allegheny River. Authorized by the Flood Control Acts of 1936 and 1938, Kinzua Dam and Allegheny Reservoir is one of 16 flood control projects in the Pittsburgh District. The project provides complete protection for Warren, PA, from Allegheny River flooding, and in conjunction with other projects in the District, substantially reduced flooding in the Allegheny and upper Ohio River Valleys. Since its completion in 1965, Kinzua has prevented flood damages estimated to be in excess of $1.2 billion. The reservoir also provides water to be released during dry periods. These releases have the effect of reducing pollution and improving the quality and quantity of water for domestic, industrial and recreation uses. Flow regulation also helps to maintain navigable depths for commercial traffic on the Allegheny and upper Ohio Rivers. Another benefit of the Kinzua project is hydroelectric power. A power plant is operated by the First Energy Corporation. Its peak capacity is 400,000 kilowatts per hour. The Big Bend Visitor Center contains displays which illustrate the hydroelectric process. Totally surrounded by forest, Kinzua Dam and Allegheny Reservoir are at the heart of one of the largest and most popular outdoor recreation complexes in the northeastern United States. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers invites you to visit the reservoir and discover a diversity of year-round recreational opportunities that will delight the outdoor enthusiast.
  11. Non-profits ~ If you’ve ever volunteered, you’re well aware of the significance of these charitable organizations. We all know that Warren County has MANY outstanding nonprofit organizations, for which we are ever grateful for their continued good work! Warren County is blessed to have a lot of philanthropic individuals, businesses and community leaders that have helped our nonprofits. We, at WCCBI, are glad to lend support to our local nonprofits by administering the Elevating Nonprofit Initiative, in partnership with Strategy Solutions, Inc. The United Fund of Warren is just one example of an organization that serves 20 nonprofits in our community. 100% of every dollar donated to the United Fund goes directly to these 20 local agencies!
  12. Golfing ~ The Conewango Valley Country Club, Blueberry Hill Golf Course, Jackson Valley Golf Country Club, or Cable Hallow Golf Course offer premier golfing in a venue that is unique all to their own, displaying beautiful greenery and challenging courses!
  13. Education, The Warren County School District ~ Education is of top priority in Warren County. The Warren County School District (WCSD) is made up of about 4,500 students and spread over 788 square miles. The district takes on the task of preparing the youth of the country extremely seriously, understanding our youth is our future. The district has a school-wide Positive Behavior Support Program which gets students, parents, and faculty involved in setting essential behavioral expectations that apply at all grades and curriculums. Complementing the SWPBS program at elementary schools, Response to Instruction and Intervention has been implemented. RTII is designed to identify students at the primary level who are struggling academically. Through customized instruction and monitoring progress against benchmarks, the program helps those get caught up to graduation standards. An outlet for after school and summer programs are offered for enrichment and tutoring through the district. The school’s backpack program, which is assisted by Second Harvest Food Bank and local businesses and individuals, can send food home on Fridays for underprivileged students enrolled in the free or reduced school lunch service.
  14. Education, NPRC ~ The Northern Pennsylvania Regional College (NPRC) began with a group of four highly motivated and engaged professionals working with postsecondary education in Northern PA. Dr. Richard McDowell, Dr. Fran Grandinetti, Ms. Deborah Pontzer, and Ms. Helene Nawrocki, saw the need for accessible and affordable postsecondary options for young people and adults in the rural areas of Pennsylvania. After eight years of feasibility studies and handling all necessary legislation, a college plan was written and approved by the PA Department of Education and the college was officially established in May 2017. Warren County is fortunate that the NPRC Board of Directors chose to place their headquarters here in December 2018. NPRC brings post-secondary education classrooms to communities by providing a flexible, career-focused curriculum and quality instruction using interactive media platforms. NPRC is an open admissions college, student-focused, publicly supported not-for-profit regional college. Students can choose to complete classes on either a part-time or full-time basis, with evening accessibility available. Classes are offered in nine counties in Pennsylvania including: Cameron, Crawford, Elk, Erie, Forest, McKean, Potter, Venango, and Warren.
  15. Education, WCCC~ The mission of the Warren County School District and the Warren County Career Center, where today’s student is our future, is to equip all students with the educational skills necessary to achieve their unique personal potential. The Career Center fully supports this mission with hands-on learning that assists students in understanding that Learning=Earning. Hands-on-learning and the skills allow students to enter the workforce with knowledge that employers are looking for. Courses offered at the Career Center include: Autobody collision, auto tech, building construction, computer maintenance, electronics, food production and management, health/medical assisting, machine tech, marketing design, power equipment, pre-engineering, protective services, and welding. The Cooperative Education Program, or Capstone Program, is a structured method of instruction that combines school-based classroom learning with productive work-based learning. Eligible seniors, within the district, may participate in this to paid work experience. To be released from school the student must work a minimum of 15 hours, during the school week, in a position related to the student’s career objective. This program is monitored by a certified Cooperative Education Instructor who ensures that the students and employers are following the mandatory guidelines.
  16. Education, Hi-Ed Council ~ The mission of the Warren Forest Higher Education Council (Warren-Forest Hi-Ed) is to enrich and enhance personal and professional growth. This is accomplished by identifying, coordinating, and implementing high quality and diverse educational training with equal access and opportunity for individuals to achieve their learning objectives. Warren Forest-Hi Ed offers the conveniences of online learning with courses such as accounting, finance, computer applications and healthcare.
  17. Healthcare ~ At the center of healthcare in Warren County is Warren General Hospital (WGH). WGH is an eighty-nine acute care bed and sixteen transitional care bed facility providing exceptional service to the community. It opened in the 1800s, providing temporary medical service to the underprivileged. Leaders of the community recognized the need for full care for the community, so the hospital transitioned to Warren Emergency Hospital in 1900. Over the years the hospital has been renamed and expanded into what it is today. The hospital currently offers a variety of services including Behavioral Health, Cancer Care, Cosmetic Surgery, Dental Clinic, Detox Emergency Care, Home Alert, Hospital Home Care, Hospice, Imaging Service, Laboratory, Maternity, Medical/Surgical Services, Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, Pain Management, Pastoral Care and Chaplin, Pharmacy, Rehab Works, Respiratory, Sleep Center, Surgical Services, Swing Bed Program, Urology, Walk in Care, and Women’s Health. For more than 20 years, Warren General Hospital has presented hope for thousands of cancer patients and their families. Warren County is also home to numerous options for assisted living, nursing home care, hospice, and rehabilitation centers. The Rouse Estates, Warren Manor, Cambridge Living, Kinzua Rehabilitation Center, CTI Physical Therapy, and Warren State Hospital are just a few choices to pick from.
  18. Hospice Care ~ Hospice of Warren County is the area’s only not-for-profit agency dedicated to helping people in the days, weeks and even months leading up to an anticipated death. Whether due to frailty or disease, when faced with our own or a loved one’s death, we often find ourselves overwhelmed with the realities of our individual mortality. Hospice of Warren offers home nursing care, respite care for the family, durable medical equipment, and medication; all overseen by certified and licensed medical professionals and qualified volunteers. Also offered are non-hospice services such as palliative care and grief counseling. What began in 1979 as a volunteer organization dealing with terminal illness has grown in to a medically comprehensive, Medicare certified, hospice program. Hospice of Warren County is deeply committed to its mission of compassionate end-of-life care assuring dignity for body, mind, and spirit.
  19. Wellness in Warren County ~ Wellness is a major factor in anyone’s life; living a long, prosperous, and happy life is something that Warren strives to offer all individuals. From youth to seniors, Warren County is home to numerous fitness and wellness businesses. For those seeking a more friendly gym-like setting, Anytime Fitness or the JAM Fitness Studio offer a clean, safe, and welcoming atmosphere where people can pursue their training goals privately or with guided instruction. Elements Yoga and Wellness Studio is a sanctuary for your body, mind, and soul. The YMCA of Warren County is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all. Together they work to ensure everyone, regardless of gender, income, faith, sexual orientation, or cultural background can live life to its fullest. They share the values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. The “Y” has been in Warren County for over 150 years! The Peace, Love and Wellness Studio offers a variety of services including massage therapy, yoga, and sauna sessions in a judgement free space where others can share, learn, and receive freely on their wellness journey. The Goat Fort is an indoor rock-climbing gym that specializes in bouldering. Bouldering is a simple sport, according to the owner Dana Harrington.
