Everyone in Warren County looks forward to the Jaycees 4th of
July Parade. Everyone wants to make sure they have a great spot
for the parade so they put their chairs out on the curb prior
to the parade. Well, Warren Main Street says if you are going
to put your chair out there, then why dont you decorate
it!
The Organization Committee of Warren
Main Street is promoting the first- ever Festival of
the Chairs, a chair-decorating contest. An application
to enter a chair can be found on-line on this site or you
may pick up an application at The Warren Emporium, Virg-Ann
Flower Shop, Crones Drug Store, all five Warren County
locations of Northwest Savings Bank, Reliable Furniture and
the Warren Main Street Office.
Chairs must be placed along the
parade route on Pennsylvania Avenue between East Street and
Laurel Street. Entries cannot take up an area more than 3
feet by 3 feet and must be safe for someone to occupy (child
or adult). The chairs will be judged in one of three design
categories: Most Artistic, Most Patriotic or Most Unusual.
The contestant must choose one category. There are adult (19
and over) and youth (18 and under) divisions. Judging will
take place on Friday, July 2nd 2004, between 8 PM and 10 PM
rain or shine.
The Promotions Committee is responsible for special events, merchant events, and marketing downtown Warren. The Promotions Committee is always looking for volunteers to assist in these activities.
